This article provides troubleshooting steps for resolving the error 'Multi Factor Authentication is not required for this user' when resetting a 2FA key in Journey Manager.
Applicable To
- Product: Temenos Journey Manager
- Module: Security Manager / User Management
- Versions: Applicable to environments with 2FA enabled
Prerequisites
- Access to Journey Manager with administrative privileges
- User account created with 2FA enabled
- Roles, organizations, and spaces assigned to the user account
Problem
When attempting to assign a new role and reset the 2FA key for a user in Journey Manager, the error 'Multi Factor Authentication is not required for this user' appears.
Resolution
The error occurs when not all Spaces assigned to the user are configured to require 2FA. To resolve:
- Remove non-2FA Spaces - Edit the user and temporarily remove all assigned Spaces except the Transact Manager space.
- Reset the 2FA key - Click the Reset 2FA button again. This time, the reset should complete successfully.
- Re-add other Spaces - Once the reset works, reassign the other Spaces to the user as required.
This behavior is determined by the Security Manager and Space configurations in Journey Manager.
